Hi All, Perhaps there should be a section on here for "Blanks", but as there isn't and as I was fishing for grayling I'll post here Fished at Berwyn Arms, mainly because you can park in the hotel car park and thus avoid the side roads. When I joined nobody told me how steep the path down to the river is, any chance of a stair lift being installed ?. The river is on summer level and it was a nice day. I nymphed down from the top of Taylor's to the big old fallen tree on the right bank, at which point the feet went solid. Not a touch !!. So..... wrong spot ?... wrong method ? or just one of those days ? Cheers Bill

PTN
There is an easier way down, up from the hotel car park towards Corwen there is a gate with a track down to Taylors Hut see photo on main site under Beats.

Thanks for that Harry. I've noticed that gate and wondered if it went anywhere useful. Cheers Bill

Re Just Fishing.
I had allocated myself a day last Friday ( Jan 7th ) to try for Grayling. As it turned out we had heavy snow overnight and everywhere was back to white stuff we had seen so much of a few weeks earlier.
Anyway I drove down to the river and parked in the Pavillion Car Park and tried from there and walked upstream to fish down.
Whilst fishing this stretch down stream I noticed an Otter on the far bank by some big tree stumps. Gradually the Otter made its way into the middle of the river and proceeded to swim upstream totally oblivious of me as I was also wading . The Otter stopped about 10 yards away from me and poked his head up had a good look at me for a few minutes and decided to about turn and not to be seen again that morning.
As for catching any Grayling , no touches at all , a blank day but not a day I would have missed. Hope to come back on a drier no snow day as wading boots pick up snow like a snowballl and makes walking even difficult.
