Just a quick question about one part of your mail. You mention "No water releases on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday". Does that mean that, in general, water is released on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday? Do we know anything about the release policies? When it happens, does it tend to always be one particular day of the week? Can you shed some light on this subject? Freddie Hi Freddie I'm currently researching the whole issue of water releases and once I've established some facts I'll let you know. Chainman

Thats great thanks Chainman. Just two more questions - what is the highest water level you would fish at night (I tend to go by the manley hall guage), and where in the pool or run do you tend to get most bites/fish please? Cheers.

Cheers. I don't have a gauge reading I'm afraid but in general I like the river to be low when Sea Trout fishing (not much hope this year I'm afraid). The secret of Sea Trout fishing is not to have too many rules. However general rule of thumb is that the faster water is fished early on and leave the slow pools til late (1 - 2am). One thing to always remember though is that they can take in very shallow water (as little as a foot!!!!) Chainman

Thanks again Chainman - really useful stuff. I'll put it into practice if the water level ever falls this year. Good luck with your own Sea Trouting and all the best.

Another thing with the Sea trout fishing, if you read all the experts rules and recommendations you would only actually get out about 3 nights a year!
I have caught Sea trout in the day, pitch black and just at dusk, the methods differ, and as Iwan says, do not ignore the shallow water, if you can fish without wading then do so

Cheers Chris. I've been out a few times now and am definitely getting the hang of it. Whilst Sea Trouting during the day I hooked and lost what was either a very large Sea Trout or (more liley) a sizeable Salmon in only inches of water on a double Teal Blue and Silver - it just took off down the River and I couldn't stop it with my single hander. Exciting stuff!
