Migratory Fish Report Saturday 23/06/12 . Well no one has reported their fish to me this week . I have though been told that a 'man who drives a very large white van , full of ladders and things' caught three Salmon on Wednesday of this week . These fish apparently were all caught on the worm and were caught on the following pools : The Chain , Eatons' Reach and Sighal at the Berwyn . I do hope that this man reports his fish to me within the next few days . Can I remind all members of the importance of reading and digesting our Club rules . The Club has gone to great expense and a huge amount of work has been done by some committee men to produce this rule book . The rules are there to try to ensure the smooth running of the club and enjoyment of the fishing by all members . Might I draw particular attention to rules relating to fishing the Chain and Taylors on a Wednesday in June , July and August . Wednesdays in these months are for those of 65 years or more or registered disabled who hold a Salmon licence only . If there is no one on these beats those who are not eligable still cannot fish them . The aim is to give those who are not as quick on their feet as they were , a chance of a fish off these prolific pools . Don't spoil their chances of a fish their are plenty of others areas on the river to fish . Tight lines ...Mick

24/06/12.....Sorry for my awful spelling in yesterdays' report , my two small Grandaughters and my wife were pestering me to get off the computer so that they could watch 'Peppa Pig'.....no accounting for taste ! I had a call from a member who caught a Salmon off St Davids yesterday , it was an 8lb Hen Fish carrying a Spring tag and was thankfully returned . Well done that man from the Potteries !

I saw a fish of between 18 and 20 lb being landed on the other side of the river to me on Thursday.....make sure your tackle is robust and your knots are good....some very strong fish about ! Keep the Faith....Mick

Migratory Fish Report 07/07/12......Well no one has reported a migratory fish catch to me this week.....I made contact with a Fish on Monday whilst fishing the fly but sadly it was on and all too quickly off....sleepless hours spent this week going over and over it in my fevered mind .....won't bring it back though . Tight lines for the coming week if the river drops . Don't forget though , we really do need to be returning Salmon. Keep the Faith......Mick

Migratory Fish Report 14/07/12 ; I have had two fish reported to me off CADAC waters since the last report (and of course Dylans' Capenhurst fish...well done Dylan) . One fish off Crogen of 15lb on the spinner and a 37 inch fish , again on spinner off St Davids'....I am pleased to report that both fish were returned by the succesfull anglers . I feel that I must emphasise the importance of releasing fish , we have to hit AT LEAST A 75% return both this season and next . I was told that the St Davids' fish was unhooked in the net and not even lifted from the water....this had to be the way forward if you are going to release the fish .

According to the scale on the side of my wading staff, a 37 inch long salmon is about 20lbs, or fractionally over. Well done.

Migratory Fish Report 21/07/12 ; Since the last report I have had phone calls from the captors of three fish , a Sewin of 1 1/2lbs off the Wharf , a 37inch Salmon off the Wharf and a 7lb Salmon off Tyfos . Both Salmon were returned to the water . I have heard that 'someone from Carog has caught a Salmon on our waters very recently....I hope he reports it soon . Have also heard of two fish from the Crogan waters ? Anyone know any more ? Now I know that our some of our members get annoyed and indeed quite incandescent when fish from 'the Corwen area' are mentioned on the CADAC forum . Well get ready to 'light up' , I want to tell you a story . This afternoon I escaped to the river for about two hours and fished a beat 'in the Corwen area' , indeed a beat just above one of our CADAC beats . Second time down my chosen pool the Bougle screamed , about 10 of line shot downstream , I felt for the fish and lifted . Saints be Praised , it was on .....there followed a 20 minute battle and I mean a battle . I do tend to bully fish but by the time I got her in the net I am not sure who was more tired , me or the fish....for me I think it's the use of emmotional energy ! I did not fully take the net from the water , one photo , fly out of the scissors and after a couple of minutes she swam away very strongly . Very heavily built fish of about 38 inches which I felt was about 20lbs in weight . What a beautiful creature ! What a fabulous fight ! A fight worthy of a Tope ! Probably even better than a Tope ! Now I still get excited when I catch a Salmon and about 30 minutes later having phoned half the world and regained my composure I wandered upstream to a piece of water I had liked the look of as I had walked to the original pool . Third cast , bump, bump....I did not really believe it ....lifted and into another Salmon....sadly this fish of about 7 or 8 lbs came off after about three minutes . A great couple of hours....there are fish about and certainly this afternoon they were in taking mood . Keep the Faith....Mick

Well done Mick !!!! I spoke to Mick a little after he had the fish , to say he was in a Euphoric state would have been quite an understatement and the fish went back safe & sound ;D

CADAC Migratory fish report 28/07/12 ; Firstly an update on the fish caught by someone from Carrog....probably my mistake ....not Carrog but Cynwyd ! However the fish still not reported . The two fish from Crogen....a little more information . Two anglers were seen fishing our topmost Crogen beat , they were apparently seen carrying two Salmon ! They then crossed over the river to the other bank that is not CADAC water . These fish have not been reported , were they CADAC members ? Were they poachers or were they both? Any information would be gratefully recieved . Don't be afraid to ask to see anglers' membership cards , if you are afraid....ring Phil Jones....he's very fierce ! Our best Salmon week of the season so far . A 12lb fish on worm from Gwynodl Bach....returned , a 10lb fish from the run on worm....returned , a 7 1/2 lb fish from St Davids...taken , a 10lb fish from the Bridge pool , worm , returned , a fish of unknown weight ? (come on Harry it's not that hard) on fly from Chain....returned , a 10lb fish on fly from Taylors....taken and a 10/12lb fish from Taylors on fly..... released . I am delighted to say that the last fish was caught by myself this morning.....a nice solid and fresh fish . Two small Sewin from the Berwyn Arms beat.....released . It would appear that the message that all first fish must be released has not filtered through to all members ....hopefully the letter that is shown elsewhere on this forum will soon be delivered to all Salmon members . The consequences to all CADAC Salmon members , not just someone who takes their first fish , will be 100% catch and release on the river . So if you see someone about to kill their first fish...TELL THEM about our Policy ....it will effect you , not just them . The first fish , third fish and fifth and all subsequent fish must be released or we will not reach our 75% catch and release target . Someone did take their first fish this week ! Keep the faith and tight lines.....Mick

Thank you Harry....I look forward to everyone having the letter . Have you decided what your fish weighed yet ? Have had reports of two further fish caught yesterday , a 14lb fish off Gwnodl Bach on worm....released and a 5lb Grilse on fly off Taylors last night.....released . It has also been reported that one angler is 'pre booking' his time on Taylors....ie for example arriving on Taylors pool at 7.00pm but booking himself in for 8.00pm , walking to Taylors and sitting there until 8.00pm and then fishing . This is very much against the spirit of the rules....please don't do it !!!! So ten fish reported for last week , good going for July on the Dee and to be honest not that many anglers out and about .
