Well nothing for me today but a 12lber was caught on St. David's about an hour ago ;D . The angler in question had fished since 6am this morning and caught it at 8.30pm. I spoke to him this morning and he said he was there for the day........well done that man!!!! I'm also told that there have been a few fish caught in the lower reaches and with the high tides and with more rain promised this week then the prospects are good. I'll keep you informed of events but needless to say it's worth having a go for these wonderful Springers. Tight Lines Chainman

Nothing to report off Corwen waters today, however a 15lber was caught on the 'Private Beat' this afternoon. That makes the total of 4 in the Corwen area since Wednesday.........not a bad return considering the time of year.
Here's hoping that the Heavens continue to open!!!

Hi. This is my first input on the forum and just wanted to say I fished on Tues.but no luck . On another part of the forum somebody was asking for info. on river heights. If you logon to www.fishing.visitwales.com this will give you river heights.Login and go to River Levels. There is a height for Corwen which I am told is measured from the height gauge on the swimming pool bridge.Hope this is of some help.

Well folks.......get your gear in the car and be prepared. As Mick reported, a 12lb fish was caught on Tuesday at Chain Pool which brings the total for the Corwen area to 5 fish in a week. The river is coloured but dropping nicely and will be fishable tomorrow and perfect for the weekend if the forecasters are to be believed. I spoke to an angler this evening who reported that nine fish were caught in the Bangor on Dee area yesterday . This obviously is a sign that there are a good number of fish downstream and with this water then prospects are good to say the least. This is a photo of the fish taken off Tailor's on Saturday morning and as you can see it had been in the river for about 4 weeks - a late March to early April fish and in a similar condition to at least 3 of the 5 caught Thanks Steve for the photo and well done on the fish Get ready CADAC members.....the Tourists are on their way!!!!!! At the moment there's nothing to report for today except for one very large fish seen in Corwen this morning. The river hasn't dropped since its lowest level yesterday but it is clearing.
There is very little prospect of rain tonight so hopefully the river will start dropping and clearing to produce perfect conditions over the next few days........hopefully the fish from the lower reaches will also arrive.
I'm out tomorrow and I'll keep you posted.

A long and uneventful day at the office for me today and I have a very strong feeling that water release played its part . I know that they were releasing from Tryweryn today but I don't know whether or not it came down the Dee......but I will find out. There were carpets of olives being washed downstream and only the odd fish rose to them. The level remained constant for most of the day and the water was that awful tea colour. Based on some information which I've received I have a sneaking suspicion that Monday and Tuesday will be the days.......it will be very interesting to see what happens. Chainman

I was always sure that if they release the Treweryn it goes into the Dee? I was on Vicarage yesterday hunting trout, although a few rising still only managed a 1lb er. Never saw any silver things moving at all. I thought the river was quite high and probably would have gone home except that I am trying to get some movement back in my ankle after spraining it!! (What a crap excuse) A marker for me is that at the swimming pool bridge if you can walk under it on the right side along the walkway without getting feet wet then its OK

I was always sure that if they release the Treweryn it goes into the Dee? Not always as they also turn it into Llyn Tegid.....and release from there at a later date. Chainman

OK thats explains a few things for me. I see that the 'dam' is below the Treweryn confluence Is there anywhere we can get information if they are releasing from Tegid then?

OK thats explains a few things for me. I see that the 'dam' is below the Treweryn confluence Is there anywhere we can get information if they are releasing from Tegid then? It's on a very long list of issues which I'm currently dealing with. There are also other questions which need to be answered regarding this practice. On the fish front I have to say that I've been disappointed with the numbers in the last week following a promising start. In fact despite several reports of fish downstream, last week's tally for the Corwen area was zero!!!!! We are experiencing some heavy showers which are no doubt contributing to the sustained water levels and although clear and perfectly fishable I always like to see a river dropping steadily. More to come as it happens. Chainman

Another fruitless foray yesterday evening although conditions were ideal. I did however hear of a 17lber caught yesterday afternoon in the Corwen area.........as Mick says - Keep the Faith!!
The water has now fined down nicely and I would guess that a fish or two will be caught in the next few days.
